Haiti Relief Trip

The Liberty Region’s Inaugural Haiti Relief Trip

Estimated cost: $1,300 (travel to Haiti, lodging and food in Haiti)

Dates: January 5 – 14

Leaving from : Departing Boston on Wed., Jan. 5th and returning to Boston on Friday, Jan. 14th

Who: All Northeast Staff and college students who attend schools in the northeast are invited to join us. Attendance at BWC 2011 is required.

Living: We will be staying at Chambrun – an intentional community directed by Nehemiah Ministries – the humanitarian arm of CCC Haiti.  The property is right outside of P-A-P very close to a small village.  On the property is a school, medical clinic, volunteer housing, an industrial kitchen, and room for a rural hospital (plans are in the works).  We will be sleeping on cots in tents that are air conditioned (when working J ) and hold approx. 15 people each.

Work: We will be coming underneath the direction and leadership of CCC Haiti.  We hope that everything we do will be with and alongside of Haitian college students.  Our activities will most likely involve working around the Chambrun property –maintenance and special projects, helping out at the school (if needed), serving at local IDP (Internally Displaced People) camps – medical, praying, etc., sharing the gospel at colleges, and caring for the families connected to the university community affected by the earthquake.  We do hope to have faculty and ministry partners come with us.  If this happens we will also be hoping for opportunities for them to lecture, share in a university setting.

Tour: We will visit local churches and communities, take a tour of the damage, spend a “fun” day at the beach, hear testimonies, and hopefully some other fun cultural exchange.

Develop: We will spend regular time together worshipping, praying, and learning from God’s word – focusing on the continued theme of Freedom from BWC especially as it relates to  the poor and oppressed.  We will also learn more about Haiti and the historical and cultural context we are ministering in.
